Sarnia       September 22-23  2007

This was a great 'impromptu' cruise up to Sarnia Bay Marina in Ontario, on the Canadian side across from Port Huron. A nice case of a lot of boaters deciding to make a fall cruise up here. It was amazing that so many small groups of our friends had decided on this destination.

We had a nice dock party and were able to visit with everybody. The floating docks are nice, something you don't see too much of in the States. This was our second time here, and the Marina keeps improving.

Saturday Morning
We left at 9:30a.m. under sun and clouds, travelling with Lime Cutter, Mary Anna II, and Swift Boat (left). We ran at 28mph, for the two hour jaunt up the St. Clair River.

At 11:30 we pulled into dock 'Y6', and called Canadian Customs to check in.

There were already several boats here that we know, including Pure Joy, Lise-Anne, Myti-Good, Carpe Diem, Frangelica, JennaRossity, Compromise, Last Chance, and Ruff Stuff. More pulled in throughout the early afternoon.  Bill and Mary from Instead Of had called and said they had "shoaled" in the North Channel, by missing a buoy. They were very lucky to get themselves "unstuck", and pulled into the marina a few hours later.

Go State!
Michigan State was playing football this Saturday, so Mary Ann II had their big inflatable "Sparty" on the swim platform.

Saturday Afternoon

We had one big dock party in the afternoon under sunny skies. Saturday night a group of us took the Marina shuttle to a family restaurant near the Bluewater Bridge. We had an "interesting experience" where we let the proprietors order for us without asking the price. Not a good move.

Later we walked through the neighborhood (then hooked up with a taxi) and played a few games at the Casino.

Sunday morning we had breakfast at the Marina restaurant, overlooking the water, before leaving around noon. This was a nice one-night trip with lots of friends.
